Day to day Itinerary – Tropical Extension

Day 1: Antananarivo – Andasibe (140 km)
Following breakfast, embark on a journey to Andasibe. Along the way, after driving 72 km, you’ll reach Marozevo village. Here, explore the private reserve of amphibians and reptiles known as Peyrieras, where you can encounter various species of chameleons, red frogs, butterflies, and snakes. Upon arrival in Andasibe, prepare for an evening adventure with a night walk to observe nocturnal animals such as frogs, mouse lemurs, and other creatures. Remember to bring your flashlight!
Day 2: Explore Andasibe National Park
Embark on a journey to discover the rich flora and fauna of Andasibe National Park, where you’ll encounter the largest lemur species in the area, the Indri-Indri, known for its distinctive vocalizations. The exploration typically spans a 3 to 4-hour walk. In the afternoon, venture to the Lemur Island within the Vakona Reserve. Cross a small river by canoe and observe various lemur species up close, including brown lemurs and bamboo lemurs.
Day 3: Andasibe – Manambato (127km) – Akanin ny Nofy
Bid farewell to the captivating Indri Indri in the morning as you embark on a scenic 3-hour drive to Manambato. From there, board a boat for a picturesque journey to Akanin’ny Nofy, also known as « The Home of Dreams. » The boat ride takes you along the Pangalanes Canal, traversing great lakes adorned with lush green landscapes, sandy beaches, and remote villages. The Pangalanes Canal is a series of natural and man-made lakes interconnected by canals that run parallel to the east coast.
Day 4: Explore Palmarium Reserve
Embark on an adventure to Palmarium Reserve, where you’ll delve into the nearby forest to encounter the diverse array of animals inhabiting the area. In this expansive 60-hectare park, besides encountering lemurs, you’ll marvel at orchids, palm trees, the iconic Ravinala (the emblem of Madagascar Air Company), as well as endemic frogs and reptiles.
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to observe local fishermen and women as they utilize the river for their daily livelihood activities, adding a cultural dimension to your experience.
Day 5: Palmarium – Tana (2hrs boat + 280km)
After breakfast at your hotel in the morning, embark on a boat transfer to Manambato. From there, commence the return journey to Tana by road.
